Hardwood Floor Refinishing Remedies
Are living room is in bad need of hardwood floor refinishing. Let me tell you, you have never seen a floor so scuffed up, so thoroughly scored and scarred. Part of it is the hardwood floor cleaner that we use. I never noticed it before, but apparently it is meant for linoleum floors and not hardwood ones at all. It seems that it has been eating away at the surface of the hardwood floor for some time. But this is not the only thing behind the current need for hardwood floor resurfacing.
A big part of it is my dog. A lot of people will tell you that, if you have a big, rambunctious golden retriever like I do, you better get used to the idea of hardwood floor refinishing every few years. A lot of people think that cats are a problem with their need to scratch things, but dogs are every bit as bad, and perhaps worse. When they run, their claws dig in to the floor, and they slide around, scratching off all the paint or varnish. Even if you've just had a hardwood floor refinishing, it will only take a few days before the first signs of dog related damage begin to show again. I wouldn't give up good old Shep for all the world, but when I begin to contemplate the cost of hardwood floor refinishing, I can't help but give him a dirty look or two. He doesn't seem to notice.
Of course, even without a dog, we'd probably still need hardwood floor refinishing by now. The only thing half as bad as dogs is kids. They drag furniture around without even noticing, scratching and dinging the floor. They wear their dirty shoes into the house, tarnishing its rich varnish color, and of course they drag their toys across it, scratching and wearing away at the floor. Not to mention all the things they spill. Yes, a glass of water doesn't require hardwood floor refinishing. Just a towel. But if you spill orange juice and other acidic liquids on the floor all the time, it eventually begins to eat away at the varnish, and then it is just a matter of time. Soon the floor will look dull, or the wood itself will begin to be exposed, and then you are well on your way to a very expensive repair just to make it look decent again
